Types of appointments currently available:

On-line Therapy

Video call sessions via Zoom. If you have good internet, a laptop, tablet or mobile phone and privacy, this can be a great option. Staying in the comfort of your own home saves travelling time… However, if your own home is what you need to escape, leaving the house with your phone and some headphones to attend the video call on the move or in a safe place like your car, can also work well.

Beach walk therapy

Walk & Talk

Currently unavailable…

Therapy on the move? Walk and talk sessions on Whitley Bay beach are back on. Meeting up face-to-face for a stroll along the prom or beach is an amazing backdrop for therapy sessions. Naturally the weather may have a few things to say about how therapeutic this is! If it gets bad, there’s always…

Private room

Currently unavailable…

Traditional one to one therapy in a private room. The ideal setting for all types of therapy, whatever the weather!

Phone call

Maximum accessibility for those who need it. Potentially less effective due to the lack of visual and physical cues, but still a viable option in combination with face-to-face and video call as a means of maintaining consistency.

Qualifications and experience

I have a level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My Approach

I’m a laid back guy and this helps in allowing my clients to feel relaxed and safe, vital for working in depth on issues such as historical trauma, sexual, physical and psychological abuse which require a strong therapeutic connection and trust.

I’m an Integrative Humanistic Person Centred Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, which means I combine many modalities of therapy including CBT, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, phenomenology… But I also have a sense of humour!

I’m creative in my style and have a flare for employing the use of metaphor, active imagination, Guided Imagery and dream analysis in promoting exploration of the subconscious mind. To me it’s important we share the journey towards positive emotional change as equals. Encouraging understanding of, and freedom from unrealistic expectations and critical judgements you may place upon yourself is at the core of my work.

Some things refuse to be put into words, so I often use imagery and metaphor in my work.

In my years of experience with clients, exploring dreams and the subconscious has frequently been the key to understanding the origins of negative feelings and thoughts…

Therapy is a steering wheel, seat belt, brakes and a full suit of armour!

100%

What to expect.

1

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. I will ease you in with a reassuring welcome and some simple questions that will allow you to start telling your story.

2

If we are right for each other, we will start to form a therapeutic relationship. This connection is based on trust and will greatly enhance the possibility of a positive result.

3

Deeper discovery. We challenge the thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back. We rediscover the understanding of yourself and your beliefs that perhaps you thought were set in stone.

4

With success will come a new freed, enlightened perspective of yourself and the world, with the possibility of restored hope and optimism for the future.
